The Mustang has remained iconic for over 50 years. Since it first debuted in 1964, Mustang has inspired us to drive harder, to go faster, and to have more fun out there on the road. This is a true piece of American muscle with loads of power up front all going to the wheels in back. Where other cars have given up on rear-wheel drive, Mustang has perfected it. Whether it’s ripping rubber on the track or just going into town to run errands, the Mustang is sure to deliver a smile.
SYNC 3 is ford’s latest innovation in the realm of infotainment. With intuitive touch controls and an extremely responsive interface, SYNC 3 is an amazing system that’s even capable of interacting with your smart phone and keeping you connected. SYNC 3 is available on all Premium Mustang trims.
When it comes to performance, the Ford Mustang has engines that deliver. The first engine in the lineup in the V6 with 300 horsepower and 280 pound feet of torque. Next up is the impressive 4-cylinder EcoBoost with 310 horsepower and 320 pound feet of torque. The biggest of the bunch (Excluding Shelby) is the V8 with 435 horsepower and 400 pound feet of torque.
The V6 engine achieves 18 city mpg and 27 highway mpg. The EcoBoost achieves 21 city mpg and 30 highway mpg. Finally, the V8 earned 15 city mpg and 25 highway mpg. Those figures are all for the standard manual transmission though the automatic transmission is extremely comparable.
2017 Mustang trim levels and features
Outside of the Shelby models, the Mustang has 5 different trim levels. Below you will find highlights of each available Mustang trim. It should be noted that the V6 as well as both Premium trims also have a convertible option in addition to the standard fastback.
Mustang V6: The V6 sets the baseline for this heart throbbing pony car. With a standard 6-speed manual transmission, HID headlamps, and 17” wheels, even the base model is dressed to impress.
Mustang EcoBoost: The EcoBoost moves to a more efficient 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, which still manages to pump out more power and torque. Additional features include dual exhaust and 6-way power adjustable seats.
Mustang EcoBoost Premium: With the same engine as the EcoBoost trim, this level also comes with 18” gloss painted aluminum wheels, leather trimmed front seats, SYNC 3, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Mustang GT: Here the Mustang gets a screaming V8 that outpaces the other trims in power and performance. Though this trim gains an extreme engine, it loses some of the Premium features of its little brother including leather seats, SYNC 3, and automatic climate control.
Mustang GT Premium: The GT Premium is the best of both worlds. Power with luxury. It still retains the earth tearing V8 while also including the luxury features from the EcoBoost Premium trim and adding heated mirrors with blind spot detectors.
We will not go into the features and details of the Shelby GT350 and the Shelby GT350R. These Mustangs are on an entirely different level and deserve their own conversation. You can learn more about Ford’s latest Shelby offerings right here.
