Fuel Efficiency

Normally you do not associate an SUV with efficiency, but Chevy is changing that one SUV at a time. With direct injection and variable valve timing, the 2017 Chevy Traverse is able to achieve an incredibly impressive 22 miles per gallon on the highway. That’s a lot of efficiency for a vehicle with this kind of power, adaptability, and capability.

Capacity

Speaking of capability, that’s one thing the latest Chevy Traverse has a whole lot of. With its standard base model configuration, the Traverse is capable of transporting 8 people comfortably, and with optional second row bucket seats, the comfort level goes even higher. Not to mention that behind the first row, you have just over 116 cubic feet of cargo room.

Towing Capability

Every Traverse comes equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that pushes up to 288 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque through the drive shaft. That all operates together to provide a maximum trailering weight capacity of 5,200 pounds. Not only can you bring along your whole family, but you can also haul any recreational toys that you may need along the way.

2017 Chevy Traverse available trims and options

New this year, Chevy has renamed the LTZ trim, Premier. Now the progression goes LS, 1LT, 2LT, and then Premier. All four trims share the same 3.6-liter V6 engine, though horsepower and torque figures depend on which exhaust system each trim uses. Below you can see a complete breakdown of each trim.

LS Trim – Even though the LS is the base model, it still comes loaded with features like StabiliTrak, 17” wheels, 8-passenger seating, power adjustable mirrors, adjustable front seats, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi, SiriusXM Radio, and it also comes with a boat load of optional features that you can use to custom tailor your Traverse to suit your needs. This trim comes equipped with a single exhaust, which allows the 3.6-liter V6 engine to generate 281 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.

1LT Trim – Many of the features from the LS trim carryover to the 1LT trim, but with a few extras. The wheels are upgraded to 18” aluminum rims, the power adjustable mirrors are heated and come with integrated turn signals, and the driver’s seat is now 8-way power adjustable. You also get remote vehicle start, which is perfect during the hot summers and the cold winters.

2LT Trim – The 2LT trim comes standard with second row bucket seats. Though this lowers your passenger count by one, down to 7, it makes for more comfortable passengers in the second row, and creates easier access to the third row. For this trim, 8 passenger seating with second row bench seats remains an option. At this trim level you also get a universal home remote, Chevy MyLink entertainment system, Bose premium audio, heated front seats, and automatic tri-zone climate control.

Premier Trim – The Premier trim gets the dual-exhaust system, which adds 7 horsepower and 4 pound-feet of torque to the already impressive V6’s output. At this level the MyLink system adds navigation, the rims get bumped up to 20”, chrome accent molding is added to the exterior, the front passenger seats gets power adjustability, and the steering wheel is heated. All of this makes for one luxurious SUV.

All trims listed above are available in both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive variants. In Wisconsin weather, AWD is a great thing to have, and that’s why a vast majority of the 2017 Chevy Traverse models that we stock feature the road holding AWD drivetrain.
